Operation Manager

Kampung Gym is growing, and we are looking for a strong, proactive Operation Manager to take ownership of our branch experience. If you are passionate about maintaining high standards, leading a team, and keeping the club running smooth like butter, we want you.

This role is all about leadership, operational excellence, and ensuring our members have the best environment possible.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Team Leadership: Oversee and guide the Club Lead, customer service staff, and frontliners to deliver top-tier member experiences.
  • Facility Management: Monitor and maintain strict standards for gym cleanliness, equipment hygiene, and overall facility presentation.
  • Maintenance Oversight: Manage and monitor facility upkeep. Ensure any maintenance issues (plumbing, lighting, equipment) are resolved swiftly, whether by guiding the internal team or coordinating with external vendors.
  • Daily Operations: Conduct daily walkarounds and audits to ensure smooth club flow, coordinating effectively with PTs, cleaners, and the wider Ops team.
  • Emergency Response: Be on-call for urgent night-time or after-hours emergencies (e.g., security alerts, water leaks, major equipment failures).
  • Reporting & Strategy: Review daily reports (attendance, incidents, stock levels, equipment status), spot trends early, and implement proactive solutions before they escalate.
  • Customer Experience: Act as the highest point of contact for complex membership matters and member escalations, de-escalating issues with patience and confidence.
  • Culture: Champion the Kampung Gym vibe—ensuring the space remains friendly, honest, and community-first.

Who We Want

  • Proven experience as an Operations Manager, Branch Manager, or in a similar leadership role (fitness, hospitality, or retail backgrounds are a huge plus).
  • Strong leadership skills with clear examples of managing team leads and frontline staff.
  • Basic maintenance knowledge (e.g., basic plumbing, minor electrical, or gym equipment troubleshooting) to effectively assess issues and guide vendors.
  • Proactive personality — sees a problem, strategizes a fix, and ensures it gets handled immediately.
  • Speaks English & BM; Mandarin is a strong bonus.
  • Well-organised, comfortable with administrative reporting, and excellent at team communication (via WhatsApp, email, etc.).
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment, can easily juggle multiple moving parts at once, and isn’t afraid to be hands-on when the team needs support.

Work Location

  • KG Austin Branch, will need to travel to all other branches at least once a week.

Application Question(s):

  • If there’s a small leak in the toilet area, what’s the first thing you would check?
  • What is your expected monthly salary? When is your earliest start date?
  • This role requires being on-call for urgent after-hours or night-time emergencies (e.g., security alerts, water leaks, major equipment failures). Are you willing and available to be on standby during non-operational hours?
  • Are you comfortable managing high-level operations while also being willing to step in to help your team with customer service, maintenance, or physical tasks on the gym floor when needed?
